About

My Story

My name is Riley Lake, and I am a photographer based in Texas. I have a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Studio Art with a concentration in Photography from the University of North Texas. My journey with photography began when I was sixteen, forming an instant connection that allows me to communicate emotions and perspectives through visual storytelling. provoking emotions and sparking new perspectives.

My Work

I am profoundly influenced by my surrounding environment. I employ color, perspective, alternative processes, scale, and composition to create visually diverse photographs that encourage my audience to think differently and appreciate the hidden secrets of the world.

I have been pursuing two long-term projects, the first Hidden Realms. Hidden Realms was created to find my own creative voice and create work that is for me. Using High Dynamic Range (HDR), Layering, and Masking, I slowed down the process, being mindful of textures, colors, and overall composition. Combining images of homes, plants/flowers/trees, shadows/light, clouds, and more, layering piece by piece to build up the image to its final form. This allows me to stay connected with the work and the audience to stick around and see in their own way, to make up their own stories.

The second Homes Around the World is a further exploration of the world around me but the more everyday. I am drawn to the different architecture, landscapes and stories of the homes in the places I visit. The occasional interactions with homeowners keep me adding to this project and as I continue to travel and explore the world, this series will continue to grow.

I am also active in the music industry, photographing concerts and applying fine art techniques to the concert stage. The color and movement transport viewers to every show.
